Brother dear

In the story “Brother Dear” written by Bernice Friesen Greg young can trying to find her own way in life. He comes from a family who are not very supportive of him choices. Greg decides he doesn’t want to go to university and decided to go plant trees. Greg’s dad is very against Greg’s decision and tries to force him to go to university. Greg’s dad believes that he must go to university in order to be successful as taught by his parents. Greg has other thought. To me Greg seems like someone who cares deeply about the environment and who is trying to find a different journey in life that his dad was hoping for. Greg is a very independent person and will not take no for an answer.

  1. Why do you think Greg has decided to take a stand and not do as his dad wishes? What does that say about him? WHy does he want to go on his own journey? Does Greg, the dad or the situation remind you of anything you have read or heard about before?(try and make a connection in your writing) Also how do you know he comes from a family that is not very supportive of his choices, bring in evidence stratight from the text to back up what you are saying. You are off to a good start with many good points to write about.

Greg has other thoughts, He knows that if he does not follow his heart he will always regret it and relises how he can help the envirorment. This shows Greg is a very independent person and will not take no for an answer. Greg's situation is alot like a teenager who is suffering from pear preasure. Greg is able to over come the preasure of his father and go his own way. To me Greg seems like someone who cares deeply about the environment and who is trying to find a different journey in which his dad was hoping for.
